Greenscape completes hydroseeding of Wildflower and Amenity Seed to an attenuation lagoon at Broadland Gate. Norwich.
A regular civil engineering client tasked us with the seeding of an attenuation lagoon for their recently completed infrastructure project at Broadland Gate Norwich.
Standard amenity seed was applied along the tops of the banks as well as over an area of grass crete cellular matting which was to provide a suitable and stable parking are for maintenance vehicles.
The banks and basin of the lagoon held potential to provide valuble wetland habitat with the correct selction of flora. Emorsgate EM8 meadow mixture for wetlands was selected to be the most suitable for the proposed water levels.
The project was completed late September and had successfully germinated before the autumn temperature drop.
The gradient of the bank and likelyhood of the basin filling up with water meant that conventional methods of seeding would have likely to have been unsuccessfull. Heavy rainfall would have seen seed dispersal interupted with seed washing the the base of the bank. This was overcome through the hydroseeding method with all seed remaining in postition throughout the germination period.
The bond between mulch and soil also ensured the clients peace of mind that heavy rainfall would not disturb the recently constructed soil formation of the lagoon itself.
As well as the seeeding works Greenscape also completed 300 linear meters of post and wire fencing along with a vehicular and pedestrian access gate for maintenance
